When Meg Murry O'Keefe and her family sit down for Thanksgiving dinner, her father gets a call from the White House about a madman's threat of nuclear war. Only an Irish rune holds a clue to preventing worldwide disaster. When Meg's brother, Charles Wallace, recited the rune, a unicorn called Gaudior appears and joins Charles and Meg to stop this tragedy from occurring.
